There are several risk factors. Does your wound penetrate to the level of bone? Have you had this foot ulcer > 30 days, Are you frequently getting ulcers on feet? Did you have a traumatic injury that may have caused a cut or burn?
If you have answered yes to any of these questions you may be at a higher risk for infection, and should seek foot wound care.
