Laser Hair Removal

Hair reduction with a cool tip laser is extremely effective and can be used to remove undesired hair from all parts of the body.

Dr. Schoenhaus is proud to offer this non-invasive cosmetic treatment and is licensed for laser hair removal by the State of Florida. If you’re tired of the cuts, scratches and irritation of shaving and want to avoid the discomfort of waxing, laser hair removal may be right for you.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic procedures and eliminates hair by penetrating follicles with a concentrated beam of light. This allows the procedure to remove the targeted hairs without damaging the skin. The hand piece of the laser actively cools the skin as it is guided over the treated area, making the procedure virtually pain-free.

Laser hair removal is safe and effective for all skin types regardless of pigmentation and can be used to remove undesired hair from any part of the body, including:

  • Legs
  • Arms
  • Face
  • Bikini line
  • Underarms

To effectively and permanently remove hair, most people require four to six treatment sessions spaced six weeks apart. Dr. Schoenhaus also offers yearly maintenance packages and individual sessions.

What to Expect from Laser Hair Removal

You will need to follow pre-treatment instructions given to you by Dr. Schoenhaus to make laser hair removal as effective as possible. These instructions may include:

  • Avoiding sun exposure for two weeks
  • Applying sunblock regularly
  • Refraining from waxing or tweezing for at least three weeks before treatment

Before the procedure, your hair in the targeted area will be trimmed to just a few millimeters. The laser may be adjusted based on your hair’s location, color and thickness.

After laser hair removal, your skin will be cleaned and sunblock will be applied. You will experience redness in your skin that may last from 15 minutes to a full hour. Though you may immediately return to your normal routine, it is recommended to avoid exposing the treated area to sunlight, as this can make laser hair removal less effective.
