Foot Care Treatments for Neuromas

A condition of a nerve that can cause stabbing and shooting pains to the toes and the foot.

Neuroma (Morton's Neuroma) occurs when one of the nerves on the bottom of the foot becomes "pinched" between the two adjacent metatarsal bones, or the base of the bones from the two closest toes.

The fibrous tissue builds up around the nerve as the condition worsens. Most experience sharp pain on the bottom of their feet, which can radiate into the adjacent toes. This occurs more commonly on the third and forth toes.

This is commonly seen in the front of the foot and can be treated with shoe padding or the newest techniques with alcohol sclerosing injections.

Surgical options include the removal of the inflamed nerve sections, and allows the overall area to "decompress." This procedure is relatively quick and results in pain reduction and natural foot appearance.
