Vein insufficiency that can cause aching, throbbing, swelling and bulging veins can now be treated in the office. Without the need for anesthesia, this office procedure is minimally invasive. A small laser is inserted into the leg and the vessel is treated by heat to close off the vein with leaky valves.
Normal activity is resumed after the treatment and a compression dressing is worn on the leg for one week.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
This treatment is used for moderate to severe bulging veins. The vein is outlined with a marker and local anesthesia is used to numb the area. Next a needle is used to enter the skin and a small hook is used to remove the varicose vein. Ambulatory phlebectomy is an outpatient vein treatment and only requires a local anesthetic.
You will not require stitches and this treatment leaves no scars.
